Types of Tea

There are 4 major types of teas. White, Green, Oolong, and Black. The less processed white and green teas are higher in antioxidants than the black and oolong. Caffeine content varies in teas depending on how processed they are. Higher level of caffeine the more processed. Our flowering teas are made from both green tea and white tea.

* White Tea: Least processed form of tea. Made from young leaves and buds which are rolled and dried naturally.

* Green Tea: Made from the newest buds and tips at the top of the plant in spring. They are allowed to dry before heat-treated to stop oxidation (sometimes called fermentation).

* Oolong Tea: The most complicated of all teas as it is semi-fermented. Oxidized range may be between 10% and 70%. Falls between Green and Black teas.

* Black Tea: Tea leaves are allowed to fully oxidize. The four steps are withering, rolling, oxidizing, and heat treating. It is the most common type of tea with a strong color and flavor.
